Northern China has experienced heavy rainstorms from the recent surge of a low-pressure vortex across the country. Now the long stretch of this weather system has moved to the northeastern regions, affecting Liaoning and Jilin provinces.

Floods and transport disruptions have affected the cities of Shenyang and Huludao in Liaoning. More than 120,000 residents across the province, including 50,000 from Huludao City have been evacuated.

As of Thursday afternoon, 68 train service were suspended, while 48 trains were forced to return to terminals. Weather authorities say this round of rainstorms will gradually stop Friday night.

Most parts of Jilin province will see rainstorms until Saturday. Local authorities have activated emergency response plan as downpours may impact the Dongliao and Yalu rivers in the southeastern part of the province.
