One person has been killed and 11 others injured in an explosion at a bar in south Germany late Sunday evening.

The explosion took place in the downtown of Ansbach which is near Nuermberg. The mayor of Ansbach said that the blast was caused by an explosive device, prompting the evacuation of more than 2,000 people from a nearby music festival.

Police said in a statement that the man, who the latest enquiries show caused the explosion, was killed in the event.
