Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with World Health Organization Director-General Margaret Chan, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping said the Chinese government has made important progress in Medical Treatment and Public Health. He said while China still faces many challenges, it is making plans to give citizens better medical services. Xi stressed the value of the WHO's role, and said China hopes for more cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Margaret Chan spoke highly of China's contribution in global issues, especially in the health sector. She said that the WHO is willing to further cooperation with China, and firmly follow the One-China policy.
