So those members of the Russian team, will not be making their way to the athletes' village, and yesterday it seemed the Australian delegation would not be going either. The country tried to move into their rooms this weekend, but felt things were unsafe because of shoddy plumbing and wiring that made their rooms uninhabitable. Well, apparently they are rethinking that approach.

The Aussies have done a 180 on their previous stance, and say Rio organizers made "fantastic" progress in addressing concerns over unfinished housing at the official village.

Australia's chef de mission Kitty Chiller says her team identified 200 problems with the accommodations this weekend, but now, that is now down to single figures.

Kitty was also a good sport in responding to Mayor of Rio Eduardo Paes's kangaroo comment from yesterday quoted "we will make the Australians feel at home here. I am almost putting a kangaroo here so they can jump in front of them."

"The mayor and I have a date on Wednesday and I believe there will be a ceremonial handing over of the keys and I have arranged a little present for the mayor also. I look forward to meeting him after two years of banter in the media. Absolutely, all in good humour. And I would really like on the record to pass on an enormous amount of thanks to not only the Rio organising committee, the IOC for their support but to the mayor and the city of Rio who have thrown thousands of workers in the last week to make sure all 31 buildings are ready for all the NOCs. There's been a tremendous show of support." So, fantastic progress today. The workers that were with us today have been absolutely really good. They've been working very hard, they are very skilled and we are very, very happy with the progress. It's looking like according to our plan that we will be able to move everybody in on Wednesday," Kitty said.
