China maps out plans for next 10 years

China has released its plan for information-technology development in the country over the next decade. The plan outlines 3 major goals, including strengthening development capability, enhancing application and improving developing environment.

Detailed work includes developing core technology, information source development and personnel cultivation. Information will be used more widely in the economy, political regulation, public service and ecological construction. The plan maps out three stages of development.

"First, by 2020, our core technology will reach an international advanced level, competitiveness of the information industry will be largely enhanced. Second, by 2025, we will build a globally advanced mobile communications network, and will have a large number of competitive network information companies. Third, by the middle of this century, informatization will play a big role and support the country's modernization construction," said Zhuang Rongwen, deputy director of Cyberspace Administration of China.
