Turkey's central bank governor says the country's economy is continuing to grow moderately and steadily.

Governor Murat Cetinkaya also said Tuesday at a presentation in Ankara that the recent political coup will hit the country's tourism revenue, which will in turn weigh on Turkey's current account deficit in the short-term.

The governor said that the central bank forecasts food price increases as high as 8 percent this year and next year, and will continue to take extra stability measures.

Cetinkaya said the central bank hopes to simplify its system to set policies. He said the simplification process depends on the outlook for inflation and financial stability.
