The Summer Games received another blow when Roger Federer announced that he is pulling out of Rio. The world of tennis will also miss the Swiss legend as Feds says he is done for the rest of the season after doctors advised him to rest his surgically repaired left knee.

Federer said he needs more extensive rehabilitation after arthroscopic knee surgery in February in what was the first operation of his lengthy and accomplished career. The owner of a record 17 Grand Slams titles turns 35 on August 8th and has never won an Olympic gold medal. Roger planned to compete at Rio in the men's single and mixed doubles with Martina Hingis, in what was likely the last Olympics for the Swiss stalwart.

Feds hasn't played since losing to Milos Raonic in the Wimbledon semi-finals early this month when he fell awkwardly during the match and said at the time he wasn't sure how badly he might have been injured.
