Turkey's crackdown in the aftermath of the failed coup continues, growing in numbers and range. The country has detained some 15,000 people, including about 10,000 military personnel. Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that 88 of its employees have been dimissed.

Its state run news agency reports that close to 1,700 officers have been formally discharged. The government has decided to close down dozens of media organizations, including 45 newspapers and 16 television stations.

A statement by the Turkish military says nearly 150 pieces of military equipment including warplanes, tanks, and navy vessels were used in the takeover attempt. And more than 86-hundred soldiers took part. That's about 1.5 percent of the military's total personnel.
