Manchester City took on Borussia Dortmund in Shenzhen as part of the International Champions Cup. For the Sergio Aguero and the EPL side it would be their first match of the tournament, that is because their opening encounter against city rivals Man United was cancelled Monday in Beijing after heavy rains made the pitch at the Bird's Nest stadium unplayable.

Dortmund did play their opener, thrashing Man United 4-1 in Shanghai last week.

The best chance of the opening 45 minutes falls to Kelechi Iheanacho going closest to breaking the deadlock for City, but cannot convert from close range with only the goalkeeper to beat.

City see their efforts paid off in the 79th minute -- some clever passing sees David Silva square to Sergio Aguero for the easy finish. It's 1-nil. City, now part-Chinese owned, are on course for their first victory under new boss Pep Guardiola. Silva attracts the attention of Dortmund's defence, while Aguero finishes with a tap-in.

It would stay that way till late -- six minutes into injury time, the Germans play a short corner, and find Christian Pulisic in the area, and his shot slides through the legs of the keeper. 1-1 forcing a shootout. The ball hitting a defender which could have affected Angus Gunn in the Man City net.

But Joe Hart's back-up would make amends in the shootout, saving saving three penalties from Dortmund, including this on Mikel Merino to give City the victory.
