The 2016 Smarter Cities International Expo has opened today in China's capital, Beijing. More than 200 exhibitors at the expo say they have the solutions for the problems afflicting our cities. Twelve pavillions at the expo focus on different urban themes, like -- traffic, sewage, and energy use.
Special areas have been set aside that let people experience futuristic cities through virtual reality. More than 100 thousand visitors are expected over the next three days. City planners around the world have started using smart city designs. China plans to build 100 model smart cities by 2020.
