The Brazilian Ministry of Justice accepted on Friday an accusation against former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, former senator Delicio Amaral and six others for allegedly obstructing anti-corruption investigations.

Former president Lula da Silva is under investigation in several jurisdictions and charges related to the car wash corruption probe, but this is the first case in which he is formally declared as a defendant.

It is interesting to say that this charge has nothing to do with the corruption allegations themselves, but he is accused of trying to interfere with investigations. Lula and another six people also charged and accused of trying to buy the silence.
