Japan’s prime minister Shinzo Abe has announced a cabinet re-shuffle will take place on Wednesday. Abe is faced with the challenge of trying to revitalize the country’s stagnant economy.

Securing a clear majority in the upper house election was a much needed victory for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Abe called it a public endorsement for his policies. In particular for the Abenomics, the economic policy to stimulate Japan’s economic recovery.

But many Japanese are concerned that, Abe's focus may shift from the economic recovery, after securing the two-thirds majority in both houses, enough to start Abe’s long-desired constitution revision.

“We did entrusted the government to the Liberal Democratic Party, but I think they are doing a number of unnecessary things, like seeking to change the constitution,” an office worker said.

“They say there will be national referendum but it's been very ambiguous and nothing Has been explained to the public.”

Public interests are on the economy and welfare, many hope Abe administration will focus on nothing else

“The focus should be on economic recovery. We are concerned about our future economy, and about the prolonged effects of minus interest rates. People are reluctant to spend. We really need a sustainable economic recovery,” one interviewee said.

Many distrusted number of Abe’s other policies, which is reflected in two ministers loosing their seats in Fukushima and Okinawa. Mirroring the controversial nuclear policy and U.S. base issues that many have opposed.

The public is eager to see the new cabinet that Shinzo Abe is due to announce on Wednesday, which will show what priorities Abe will place in the next cabinet.

According to the recent public survey, majority of Japanese wants Prime Minister Abe to focus on economic recovery and welfare issues.

Despite Abe’s confidence that the economic recovery is on track. Majority said they have not felt the benefits of the recovery and due to the grim global economic outlook, there are still concerns that future recovery may remain stagnant.

Analysts say to regain consumer and public confidence, Abe must show a concrete economic policy to boost Japan's economy back on recovery tract.
