The United States has expanded its air strikes against ISIL into Libya, bombing targets in the coastal city of Sirte. The attacks mark the beginning of a U.S. air campaign in the North African country.

Until recently the country have two governments, the new United Nations by government however, says they ask for U.S. strikes to help local ground forces take on ISIL. U.S. president Barack Obama authorized the strike.
