Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused unnamed Western countries of supporting terrorism and the coup plotters who tried to unseat him.

Erdogan said the state of emergency imposed after the failed coup was compatible with European Union procedures. The Turkish government has taken over military factories and shipyards as part of a nationwide political shake-up. It also intends to restructure the armed forces.

Turkey's parliament will also vote on a plan to move the capitals of two mainly Kurdish provinces, to tighten strategic control over the restive southeastern region.
