Russia's 2016 International Army Games is underway in Moscow. Over 3-thousand military personnel from 19 countries are competing this year, with some events held in Kazakhstan for the first time. CCTV's Wang Tongxuan has more.
The 15-day competition gets tougher each day. The Chinese PLA delegation ranks second on the list of participant countries in the number of task teams. The Army took on 17 events, while the Navy and Air Force participated in the rest.
In the sea survival competition, China took the top three positions. The first phase of the land competition sees teams breaking through obstacles. A 3.5 kilometer course is beset with 11 different obstacles. Their marksmanship is also tested, as they pick up rifles, sniper rifles, 40 mm rocket launchers and other small arms.
The Chinese delegation won all games in the "individual" phase of the shooting games, including the men's and women's pistol and rifle events. Soldiers also have to carry the wounded through simulated 'infected' areas.
Other events include a "Doctor Relay" event is being held in St. Petersburg Kirov military medical college.
Meanwhile, the field cooking competition saw military chefs competing in terms of marksmanship, physical fitness and food production. The Chinese military cook topped the shooting event and was crowned as the ethnic cuisine master.
The games will run till August 13th. And although an overall win is not yet guaranteed, the Chinese soldiers' outstanding performance already gained recognition from Russian judges.
