MOFCOM 'regrets' EU punitive measures

08-05-2016 01:10 BJT

China's Commerce Ministry on Thursday said it "regrets" the European Commission's decision to put retroactive anti-dumping duties on Chinese cold-rolled steel plates.

The European Commission on Thursday imposed duties from 19.7 to 22.1 percent on cold-rolled steel products imported from China.

The Ministry of Commerce said the action was the second European imposition of anti-dumping duties on Chinese steel products this week.

The ministry said the action would seriously affect normal international trade and weaken the competitiveness of the European Union's downstream manufacturing. The ministry also said that the EU should avoid abusing trade remedy measures.
