Sun was looking to make it to the final of the 200-meter freestyle, and was in good form, as he set the fastest time in the preliminaries -- clocking in at one minute, 44.63 seconds.

Sun, would win his semi-final heat. He is about a second slower than his best prelim time, but has booked a spot in Monday's final, thanks to his performance. Japan's Kosuke Hagino would finish second in the heat, with the USA's Conor Dwyer coming in third.

Ning Zetao would make his Olympic debut with the Chinese 4x100 meter freestyle relay team. But things do not go well for the current 100-meter freestyle world champion. He swims well, but the squad is disqualified, when it is ruled that China's second swimmer, Lin Yongqing, jumped before his teammate touched the wall.
