The Pakistani Taliban faction Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing at a hospital in Quetta city in southwestern Pakistan.

Hospital officials say at least 70 people were killed and more than 100 wounded. Earlier, the health minister of Balochistan province put the death toll at 93. Many of the victims were lawyers and journalists. They had gathered at the hospital to mourn a prominent lawyer, who was shot dead earlier in the day.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has vowed to carry out more attacks. The group was also behind the Easter Day bombing in the eastern city of Lahore in March that killed 72 people.
