The Silk Road Economic Belt and the Xinjiang Karamay forum, known as the “Davos Forum in West China”, started in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Tuesday. This year's forum covers a variety of topics including infrastructure construction, information exchange, and energy cooperation. It aims to strengthen cooperation between China and countries along the Silk road economic belt.

Better interconnectivity and more business opportunities. This year's forum aims to build another communication bridge between Asia and Europe.

Around 400 leading government figures from China, Iran, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan, as well as representatives from businesses and think-tanks, are gathering in Karamay, to discuss cooperation in several fields ranging from infrastructure to energy.

"In addition to Pakistan, we are extending our businesses in central and southern Asia. We are now working to cooperate with countries like Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. We are even extending businesses in southeast Africa," said Zhang Xin, President of Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co., LTD.

Experts attending the forum say the energy markets in countries along the Silk Road economic belt are currently relatively isolated.

So there is huge potential for large-scale renewable energy development and distribution, which is becoming a trend.

"The forum is indeed a great opportunity for us to contact high-end clients, because we rarely get to meet them even when we are doing marketing. This is a perfect chance for us to start cooperating," said Niu Hongtao, sales manager of Jianglian Heavy Industry Co., LTD.

As the Belt and Road Initiative improves regional interconnectivity, and as the process of "regional energy integration" continues to develop, there will be a large market demand for long-distance power transmission technology.

This also brings business opportunities for international power suppliers.

So far, companies attending the forum are discussing business projects worth a total of over 40 billion yuan.
