In Olympic equestrian, 26-year-old Chinese rider Alex Hua Tian finished in eighth place in the eventing final. This is the best result ever for China in Olympic equestrian and another milestone for Hua Tian, who was the first to ever represent China in the event when he competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

In the two previous days of competition, Hua Tian and his nine year-old horse Don Geniro found themselves in 11th place out of 65 riders after the dressage and cross country. Hua Tian then had a strong performance in jumping, which lifted him and Don to eighth place and a spot in the final.

There Hua Tian started 18th out of 25 riders. He and his equine pal put together a solid run knocking down only one obstacle to finish eighth with 63.60 points. This is the best result ever for a Chinese athlete in Olympic equestrian. The gold went to Michael Jung of Germany.

Hua Tian is truly one in a billion, as he is the only Chinese rider to ever compete at the Olympics and now with two Games under his belt, the 26-year-old will be expected to continue making history for China.
