There was plenty of action from the fifth day of competition at the Summer Games, so we'll turn things over to Tracey Holmes and Dan Williams who are standing by at the Olympic Park. Good evening guys, what's the latest there?

On the fifth day of competition in Rio, China continued its strong performance in weightlifting, as Xiang Yanmei looked to outmuscle her opponents to claim the gold medal in the women's 69-kilogram division. Meanwhile over on the men's side, Lü Xiaojun would break his own world record, but still come up short in the 77-kilogram category.

Xiang would overcome a bump to the back of the head to lift 116 kilograms in the snatch, and then follow that with 145 kilograms in the clean and jerk. That would be enough to win the gold medal, with a total of 261 kilograms. Kazakhstan's Zhazira Zhapparkul wins silver while Egypt's Sarah Ahmed takes bronze. China now has four golds in weightlifting in Rio.

To the green pool where Qin Kai and Cao Yuan, the reigning world champs in the men's 3 meter springboard came in as heavy favorites. But China's bid to win all eight diving events is ended by Jack Laugher and Chris Mears who give Great Britain its first gold medal in Olympic diving. The Chinese pair had to settle for bronze behind the USA's duo Sam Dorman and Mike Hixon.
