Kenya has hosted a symposium on cooperation between China and Africa. The symposium has been held to discuss cooperation and development between China and Africa. China's Ambassador to Kenya Liu Xianfa attended. He reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to win-win relations with Africa.

"More than 600 years ago, Mr. Zheng He, the great Chinese Navigator of Ming dynasty coming to Africa a number of times to visit Mombasa, Malindi and Mogadishu," he said.

"If you check with the history book of China in Ming dynasty, there is a very beautiful picture about this. There is a giraffe which was brought back by Zheng He. There is a Chinese man like this high, Giraffe is that high. I think that picture vividly depicted the friendship between China and Africa for the first time in Chinese history. "

China has several mega-projects running on the continent. One of the biggest is the SGR railway in Kenya.

"...This is the first project of this size where we are saying this project will be completed about seven months ahead of time. Thanks to the commitment and hard work of our Chinese partners," said James Macharia, Transport Cabinet Secretary, Kenya.

The first phase of the railway is tipped to be completed in June next year.
