China has not only sent some 400 athletes to the Rio Olympics, it has also dispatched a multitude of Chinese-made products that are an integral part of the Games. China's central air conditioner maker, Midea, has provided central air-conditioning for nine venues at the Brazilian Olympics.

Trade cooperation between China and Brazil is more visible than ever, thanks to the Summer Olympic Games. More and more 'made in China' products have entered the Brazilian market.

Midea beat LG and other foreign makers to provide central air-conditioning for nine venues of the Brazilian Olympics. The bid is dominated by Midea and Carrier's Brazil joint venture and the products were produced both in Midea's Shunde central air-conditioning factory and a Brazil joint venture factory. The product is labeled with two brands, Midea and Carrier.

"Brazil's Carrier have decades of experience and also owns a relatively mature factory. Midea can also build its own factory in Brazil. But, the merger can accelerate the internationalization process Chinese brand," said Guan Jinwei, manager of Midea.

Midea worked with Brazilian Carrier to set up the joint venture in 2010 to engage in and expand the air-conditioning business in Latin America. Midea and Carrier maintained about a 40 percent market share in Brazil last year, due to high efficiency and lower costs.

"Midea has a more complete APP system, which connect all kinds of Midea products, including central air conditioner and other household appliances. Customers can get this App both in China and abroad," Guan said.

Midea's overseas revenues reached 8 bln US dollars in 2015. That accounted for nearly 40 percent of the company's total revenues. Analysts attribute the sales to Midea's overseas joint venture in Brazil.
