China denounces Japanese cabinet members' visit to Yasukuni Shrine

China has voiced 'firm' opposition after two Japanese cabinet members paid tribute to the Yasukuni Shrine on the 71st anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II.

The Yasukuni Shrine honors 14 Class-A convicted war criminals from WWII. It is also regarded as a symbol of Japan's past militarism.
