Full coverage: The South China Sea Issue

Senior foreign ministry officials from China and ASEAN countries are holding a meeting about the South China Sea. It is aimed at making sure the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea or DOC is fully and effectively implemented. Diplomats are also discussing topics on fishing, maritime rescue, anti-piracy, and natural disaster forecasting.

China's Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin attended the meeting. He says China will continue to work with ASEAN countries in order to maintain peace and stability in Asia. Liu also said a summit would be held in Laos in September to commemorate the 25th anniversary of China-ASEAN relations.
