That move proved effective as he was able to secure a second straight title, as the U.S. athlete recorded the longest jump of the year, and he was able to beat out Dong Bin in the process.
The Chinese also grabbed a podium spot in Brazil, a breakthrough in the discipline for this country. Dong recorded 17.58 meters in his first attempt, setting a personal best, which is enough for a bronze medal, the best ever result for China in this event.

Taylor, the defending Olympic and world champion, leapt 17.86 meters, the longest jump of the year. His compatriot Will Claye finished with silver
Jamaican finishes ahead of Spain's Ortega and Bascou of France
Back to the men for the final of the 110 meter hurdles, in which Omar McLeod became the first Jamaica to win the gold, running in 13.05 seconds. His smooth performance relegates Spain’s Orlando Ortega to the silver while the bronze would go to Dimitri Bascou of France.
