The Russian defence ministry says Russia supports a UN proposal for weekly 48-hour "humanitarian pauses" in the fighting in Syria's Aleppo. This was in response to UN Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura's call for the temporary halts in the city.

Russia says the first such "humanitarian pause" will be introduced next week. While more precise date and time for the humanitarian pauses will be determined later.
