15-year-old Ren Qian claims gold, teammate Si Yajie takes silver in women's 10-meter platform

On Day 13 of the Summer Games, Chinese athletes were back in the pool for diving as Ren Qian and Si Yajie were competing in the final of the women's 10-meter platform. China had already won five out of six diving events in Rio, and Ren and Si were expected to add another gold medal to that haul.

And to no one's surprise, the Chinese finished on top in the competition. Ren would turn in a near flawless performance to total 439.25 points after six dives which is enough to top the podium and make the 15-year-old China's first gold medalist born after the year 2000. Her 17-year-old teammate Si would win the silver.

Canada's Erica Wiebe claims gold in women's 75kg division

In women's freestyle wrestling, China's Zhang Fengliu proves a tough competitor in the 75-kilogram division as she beat Vasilisa Marzaliuk of Belarus 8-4 to win a bronze medal. The gold would go to Erica Wiebe of Canada.

Chinese loses to Adams in women's flyweight semi-final

In women's boxing, there would be a rematch of the flyweight final from the 2012 London Games when China's Ren Cancan takes on Nicola Adams of Great Britain. And just like four years ago, Adams would win again which means Ren takes the bronze.

Chinese defending champ loses to Spain's Marin in semi-finals

China would be dealt a blow in women's badminton when the singles defending champion, Li Xuerui suffered a knee injury in the second set of her semi-final match against Carolina Marin. Li would continue to play, but go on to lose against the Spaniard 2-0, and the injury would prevent her from competing in the bronze medal match.
