South Korean President Park Geun-hye's popularity continues to take a hit as the controversy over the deployment of the THAAD system persists. According to a recent Gallup Korea survey, Park's approval rating was at 33 percent. Another public opinion survey showed that 60.7 percent of the respondents hold an unfavorable view of her job performance.
According to South Korean media, some one thousand members, or a quarter of the ruling party in Seongju County have applied to withdraw in protest against the deployment of the anti-missile system. A major lawmaker from main opposition Minjoo Party also added that it was possible to impeach Park if she continues to ignore public dissent.
