Another championship was won by Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan in the men's badminton doubles. The Chinese pair defeated Malaysian opponents Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong with 2-1.
China also secured three medals from the ring. In the women's light final, boxer Yin Junhua had silver after losing to Estelle Mossely of France. The other two bronze medals were from the women's middle and men's fly boxing events.
And for synchronized swimming, China finished in second as they did four years ago in London. Russia won their fifth straight Olympic title in that event.
