Americans will take on Serbia for gold in men’s basketball

In men's basketball, the two-time defending champs from the USA would reach their third straight gold medal game after beating Spain 82-76. Klay Thompson leading the Americans with 22 points. The second semi-final features Serbia dismantling Australia 87-61, paced by a 22-point effort from Milos Teodosic.

Friday's other highlights included Carolina Marin of Spain winning women's badminton gold, British equestrian rider Nick Skelton prevailing in individual jumping, the British women's field hockey team claiming their first-ever title, the USA women's water polo squad earning their second straight championship, taekwondo competitor Cheick Sallah Cisse grabbing Cote D'Ivoire's historic first Olympic gold medal, and Australia's Chloe Esposito taking top honors in women's modern pentathlon.
