Senegal is one of many countries which will be attending the G20. The west African nation is also currently coordinating an economic development program within the African Union. Senegal's Commerce Minister Alioune Sarr shares how the economic concerns and issues in Africa can be solved during the upcoming G20.

As a core member of the Economic Community of West African States, Senegal has devoted itself to achieving regional integration within Africa. It is also the current chairman country of the New Partnership for Africa's Development. For Senegal, the G20 is a significant opportunity for Africa's future developments.

"I think during this G20 summit, some concerns of Africa, some needs of the continent will be looked at very very seriously. The first is to have a sustainable development and inclusive development. Second we have also a strong eradication of poverty in the continent," Sarr said.

This year's G20 theme is "Towards an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy." Sarr believes the summit will be a great chance for Senegal to represent the African nations, and help draw attention to this economic problem.

"For Senegal, we will pay special attention about investment agreement in the world, international investment agreement. Also we will look at very very strongly what you will take how about decision on the global value chain. I think it’s some ideas in which we are sure the G20 summit will discuss and take better decision," Sarr said.

Senegal wants to develop the country into an emerging market by 2035, and Sarr said there is great potential for cooperation between China and Senegal to achieve this goal. He believes that Chinese investors could see Senegal as a gateway to open markets in West Africa, and even further beyond in Europe and the United States.
