G20 Summit to focus on development

This year's G20 summit in Hangzhou is set to kick off in less than 10 days, hosting various world leaders. The two day event will see both Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Barack Obama in attendance.

According to the Chinese foreign ministry, this year's summit will highlight the significance of development and make plans for further sustainable development.

"As noted by the media, this year's summit will give priority to the issue of development. With China's support, the G20 summit will for the first time ever, make systematic plans for the implementation of the 2030 sustainable development agenda, adopting both group and individual action," said Lu Kang, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry.

"Member countries should actively promote their own development plans, while providing support to other developing countries. We will also help speed up the industrialisation of the Least developed countries in Africa, and help them to achieve the goal of sustainable development. The issues of agriculture, employment, women and youth will also be discussed at the summit."
