The manufacturing of China's first home-made aircraft carrier is going according to plan. Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Wu Qian said the new aircraft carrier will be of good quality as well as good-looking.

This will be China's second aircraft carrier after Liaoning -- a refit based on an unfinished carrier from the former Soviet Union.

The spokesperson also commented on the U.S.'s planned THAAD deployment in South Korea.

He said, "The U.S. side has claimed many times that THAAD's anti-missile radar range is only hundreds of kilometers. But Vice Admiral James D. Syring, director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, said during his recent visit to South Korea that THAAD is capable of shifting from terminal mode to forward-based mode in a very short time, which means that its radar range is beyond 1,000 kilometers. His remarks are full of stories."
