The Chinese Olympic delegation was given a warm reception in Macao. And many people on the gambling enclave believe that their presence on the island can help improve sports in the region. Our Mike Fox has the details.

On the island, a beach volleyball was underway. The group of amateurs are getting instructions from Zhang Jiajun, who is the head coach of Macao's volleyball team.

And the coach was glad to see his sport on TV in Rio.

Zhang Jiajun said, "We watched every volleyball game during the Rio Olympics, even if it was at midnight. As volleyball players, we were all looking forward to China's performance."

Zhang is proud  of the Chinese women's team. And with the Chinese Olympic delegation in Macao, he will be certain to see the gold medal winning squad up close.

Zhang said, "I am so happy for the National team's result, it's a hard-earned title as the team fought hard to win, and I am really hoping that I can see them in person. "

Another notable figure on the scene is sports commentator Ou Zirong. As someone who follows sports closely, he has a different view of China's results at the Games.

"In the past China usually is first or second in the medal table, but this time viewers didn't pay too much attention to that. They enjoyed the Games, because of a love of sports, not just to see how well China was doing," said Ou Zirong.

The goal of this trip is to encourage youngsters to take up sports, and by meeting the Olympic squad, it could inspire future Olympians.
