Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau has met with Chinese president Xi Jinping in Beijing to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.
Xi said that diplomatic relations between China and Canada have been moving forward steadily -- and that there is great potential for further cooperation between the two countries.
Trudeau later met with his Chinese counterpart, Li Keqiang in the Great Hall of the People.
After their meeting, the two prime ministers announced plans to hold annual bilateral talks -- to further promote understanding and communication between their two countries.
Canada will also apply to become a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
