Brazilian organizers of the Games are working hard to push lagging ticket sales and finish preparations for the Rio Paralympics as the athletes get in their last few days of training before the event begins on Wednesday, with all 22 events to go ahead as planned.

With six gold medals, four world records set at the London 2012 Paralympics, and with a further 24 World Championship titles to his name, swimmer Daniel Dias is one of Brazil's most decorated athletes. Dias, who was born with no hands or feet, developed an early love for drumming, tying the drumsticks to his wrists.

Another of Brazil's favourites to top the podium is sprinter Terezinha Guilhermina, who entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest blind woman on the planet after breaking the world record in the 100 metres and gaining two gold medals in the 2012 Games.

Weightlifter Bruno Pinheiro, who suffers from dwarfism, began his sporting career practising jiu-jistu. But power lifting is clearly his forte as he just showed by bench pressing an incredible 170 kilograms. Not a guy to mess with.
