To Colombia, where the government says its peace deal with FARC rebels will be formally signed on September 26th. President Juan Manuel Santos says this will be a milestone towards ending the country's half-century conflict. FARC leader Timoleon Jimenez tweeted the date and location of the signing. He calls it "the foundation for building peace."

Various Latin American leaders -- as well as Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy -- are expected to attend the ceremony. The event will be held in the northern coastal city of Cartagena de Indias.  Once the deal is signed, the rebel group will have 180 days to demobilize, disarm and relaunch itself as a political party.
