U.S. Open: Sixth-seeded duo advance after 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win

The last remaining Chinese players at Flushing Meadows were in action, as Zheng Saisai and Xu Yifan would look to progress in the women's doubles draw. The 11th seeds would have their hands full with the international pair of Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe in the third round.

Zheng and Xu lost the first set 6-4, and are on the defensive in the second, but take this point when Vandeweghe's volley is long. The Chinese duo take the second 6-4, to set up a decider.

The international pair are on match point in the third, and after an exchange at the net, prevail when Vandeweghe is able to slam home the winner. 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 is the scoreline, as the U-S Open journey for all the Chinese athletes is now over. 

Zheng said, "Actually I had a chance to make into the next round both in singles and doubles. Anyway, I am still in the process of learning, as I am young. If I can draw lessons from these defeats, I can play better tennis in the future。"
Xu said, "We are training everyday so that we can play better tennis in the future. After this tournament, our season in Asia will start, we will play those tournaments in our country. I really miss home."
