Sitting Volleyball was officially introduced into the Paralmpics at the 2004 Athens Games, which is also when China's women began to dominate the event going on to win three straight titles. The team is now in Rio where they had their first and only training session on the real court as they prepare to chase their fourth title.

China's team is composed of young and old players including Gong Bin, who returns to the Paralympics 12 years after winning gold in 2004. The team which has an average age of 33 is the oldest competing in the event. China's women arrived in Rio on August 21st, and trained in a club near where they were staying since then. The squad also went through three warm-up games against hosts Brazil during that period. So far they are satisfied with the court and confident of their chances.

"We've been here in Rio for more than half a month and we've adjusted to the enviroment and the court. The team spirit is high and now we are ready to compete in the Games," said Sitting Volleyball Team leader Liu Jin.
