Now that the G20 Summit in Hangzhou has concluded, the next meeting will be held in the German city of Hamburg in 2017.

Chinese President Xi Jinping says that China is ready to maintain close communications and coordination with Germany to ensure a successful Hamburg summit.

The German organizers said they are ready to carry on the talks and results from this year’s meeting. Hamburg will host the G20 Summit in 2017. The city in northern Germany is one of the world’s most important international port cities. The German G20 organizers say the 2017 summit is in a smooth transition from China to Germany.

“As a resident of Hamburg, I’m very happy that the G20 summit will be coming to Hamburg July next year. G20 agendas are all of great importance. They are about the world economy, fiscal systems, well-being of people,” said Wolfgang Schmidt, State Secretary of Hamburg.

“But of course, we have special concerns on refugee issues, global political security policies involving far east and Europe. Maintaining the consistency of the summit’s agenda is good. It’s been a smooth transition from China’s Hangzhou to Hamburg.”

Business communities in Hamburg have expressed their support for China’s proposal to reduce trade barriers, according to a spokeswoman for one of Europe's oldest business associations.

“I think it’s important to eliminate trade barriers. Hamburg has always benefited from the openness of free trade, and minimum trade restrictions. It benefits us and will do the same to the world. Maybe it’s a positive message Hamburg can pass to the world,” said the International Department director of Handelskammer Hamburg.

Xi told German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the G20 summit in Hangzhou that China and Germany share a strong all-round strategic partnership. Xi also said that Beijing and Berlin should strengthen their foundation of mutual trust and maintain high-level exchanges.
