South Korean President Park Geun-hye has called on ASEAN leaders to further solidify ties through a “concrete vision.”

Park made the remarks at the ASEAN Plus 1 Summit in Vientiane. She said South Korea looks forward to enhance cooperation in trade and investment with ASEAN.

Leaders of the bloc have also held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who pledged cooperation with ASEAN against terrorism. Japan’s Kyodo news agency has reported that the government plans 45 billion yen (about U.S.$440 million) over the next three years. That will be used to train 2,000 security personnel across Asia.

In their meeting on Wednesday, Park and Abe also agreed to work with the US to cope with what they call “provocations” from the DPRK.
