Afghanistan's Defense Ministry is making efforts to beef up the country's air force. The United States Security Assistance Office has donated four MD-530F attack helicopters and a transport airplane to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense at Hamid Karzai International Airport.

The transfer is the result of the Combined Security Transition Command -Afghanistan, a multinational, US-led military organization, a foreign military sales process designed to strengthen Afghanistan's Air Force.
