A breeding center for giant pandas in southwest China’s Sichuan province has announced that giant panda Wang Jia gave birth to a female cub early Wednesday.
The cub weighs 195 grams. Wang Jia was rescued as a cub from the wild in Baoxing in 2007. It is the nine-year-old mother’s second delivery at the Bifengxia breeding center.
The center is part of the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Ya’an City. It has witnessed a total of 23 newborns to date, 20 of which have survived.
