Defence ministers and representatives from 80 countries and institutions took part in a UN peacekeeping meeting in London on Thursday. They included US Defence Secretary Ash Carter, and Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan. UN under-secretary-general Herve Ladsous welcomed the increasing role played by Chinese peacekeepers.
Speaking at the one-day meeting, Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan said China is the second largest contributor of peacekeeping funding. He said that in the next three years China will cover 10 percent of UN peacekeeping expenses.
