Typhoon Meranti, the 14th tropical storm to hit this year, is approaching southeast China. Meranti is expected to make a landfall in Taiwan on Wednesday and then move on to Fujian and Guangdong provinces by Thursday.
On Friday morning, the typhoon is expected to continue its path through into Jiangxi Province. Strong winds and torrential rain will affect most southeastern regions and the National Meteorological Centre has already issued an orange rainstorm alert.
Experts also warn that Meranti may be the strongest typhoon to hit China this year.
