The Israel's ninth president was hospitalized for treatment in the Tel Hashomer Hospital outside Tel Aviv, the statement said.

"His condition is stable, and he is fully conscious," the statement read. "He is receiving medical treatment in accordance with his condition," it added.

Peres, 93, was one of Israel's most popular presidents.

In January, he was rushed to a hospital twice after experiencing chest pains. He was later diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.

The former president, who ended his tenure in 2014, remained active in the public sphere through his activities at the Peres Center for Peace, advocating for coexistence and peace between Jews and Arabs in the Middle East. He is also active in promoting high-tech ingenuity worldwide.
