China Paralympic head Zhang Haidi addresses symposium

The International Paralympic Committee would officially open their Academy Inclusion Summit. The conference focussing on inclusion and accessibility, their impact on society, and how the Paralympics has developed into the world’s number one sporting event for social inclusion.

Zhang Haidi, who is the head of the Chinese Paralympic delegation, was among the speakers at the symposium, and discussed China's role in this endeavour as the host of the 2022 Winter Paralympics. 

Organizations from more than fifty countries and regions attended the two-day-summit. The meeting is mainly aimed at the construction of facilities for the disabled across the world, as well as caring for, and educating the disabled.

During the summit, Zhang Haidi discussed how China is helping educate disabled people, and used the 2008 Paralympics as an example. Many of the facilities used in Beijing will be used for the 2022 Winter Paralympics, on top of new venues being built.
