Nico Rosberg was looking to put the pressure on defending world champions Lewis Hamilton. The Brit leads the overall standings by two points over his Mercedes teammates, but it looks like the German has all the momentum, winning the last two races, and also grabbing the pole for this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo would lay down a solid qualifying time on the Marina Bay circuit -- and the Aussie would be able to finish in second on the timesheets.
Hamilton struggled during practice in the circuit -- as he was unable to find a good line on the track -- he overshot this turn and he end sup on the chicane, which did nothing to improve his time. The Brit despite the problems, will start in third.
Rosberg's quickest lap was one minute and 42.584 seconds. And with overtaking largely impossible under the lights, Rosberg will start as the firm favourite for what would be the eighth victory of a season which could yet herald his first title. He could very well be the new points leader after the weekend.
Sebastian Vettel may have won half of the eight races staged in Singapore, but he will be last on the grid on Sunday. However, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel eliminated in Q1 because of mechanical issues.
So this is how the startign grid looks, Rosberg is on the front row with Daniel Ricciardo. Hamilton starts in the second row with youngster Max Verstappen.
