Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and U.S President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Li said China has always been an active supporter of the UN, as well as a firm defender of the rules and principles of the UN Charter.

He said China is willing to contribute more to world peace and development. Ban said the UN commends China's contribution to climate change and sustainable development. 

Meanwhile, Li and Obama agreed to step up cooperation in the UN Security Council and in law-enforcement channels after the latest DPRK nuclear test.

Li said China expects all relevant parties to refrain from escalating the tension on the peninsula.
